Before you can use AvarWord some settings need to be setup first.
Make sure you have sound coming out of your computer first.
Start the AvarWord program.
In Microsoft Word type in a script.
In the Talk window click on the Play button.
Notice if the avatars lips move in sequence with the spoken words.
If the lips keep moving after the speech has finished you will need to adjust the
rate setting, in the Audio window.
Open the Audio Settings window.
The next step involves ensuring the avatars lips move at the same time as the
word is spoken.
Depending on the power of your PC you may have to adjust the rate slider to
When you have done this, click on OK. If the lips keep moving after the speech
has finished you will need to move the rate slider to the left.
After each small move click on Start button, until the lips move at the same time
as the speech.
You may have to adjust this setting again when reading in long sentences.
Note: Each PC that AvarWord is installed on, will need to be setup in this way.
If after trying this you can’t hear any speech.
You will need to select a voice from the voice list box.
If you are running Windows VISTA, the choice is limited to Microsoft Anna
With Windows XP you have a number of choices, we recommend you use the
Microsoft Mary Voice.
The format option changes the voice quality, select the option SAFT 48kHz
The audio setting changes which channel sound comes through, if you can’t
hear any sound try changing to a different audio channel (if one is available).
If everything is working click on OK.
Your settings will be remembered so you don’t have to go through this setup
If you still have no sound try the Fault Finding section.
